Methyl acetate is an organic compound with a molecular formula of C3H6O2. It is mainly used as an organic solvent for resins, coatings, inks, paints, adhesives, leather production processes, polyurethane foam foaming agents, and thinner. 
It is flammable. Its vapor and air can form an explosive mixture, which can cause combustion and explosion when exposed to open flames and high heat energy. It reacts violently on contact with oxidants. Its vapor is heavier than air and can spread to a relatively far place at a lower level, and will ignite when it encounters a fire source.
