Product Description
Iso propyl alcohol is a colorless and transparent liquid with a smell similar to the mixture of ethanol
and ace tone. It can be miscible with alcohol, ether, chloro-form and water. It can dissolve alkaloids,
rubber, shellac, rosin, synthetic resin and other organic and some inorganic substances. It forms an
azeotrope with water and is insoluble in salt solution. It can ignite and burn at room temperature,
and its steam is easy to form explosive mixture when mixed with air.

Iso propyl alcohol uses
1.Iso propyl alcohol is widely used as organic raw material and solvent. As chemical raw materials,
Iso propyl alcohol can produce ace tone, hy-drogen pe-roxide, me-thyl iso butyl ke-tone, diisobutyl
ketone, iso propy lamine, iso propyl ether, iso pro-pyl chloride, isopropyl fatty acid and chlorinated
isopropyl fatty acid. In fine chemicals, Iso propyl alcohol can be used to produce iso-propyl nitrate,
isopropyl xanthate, triisopropyl phosphite, aluminum isopropoxide, medicine and pesticides, as
well as dii-sopropyl ace tone, iso-propyl ace tate, thymol and gaso-line additives.
2. As a solvent, iso propyl alcohol is a relatively cheap solvent in industry. It has a wide range of
uses. It can freely mix with water. It has stronger solubility for lipophilic substances than ethanol.
It can be used as a solvent for ni trocellu-lose, rubber, coatings, shellac, alkaloids, etc. It can be
used in the production of coatings, inks, extractants, aerosols, etc. It can also be used as
antifreeze, cleaner, additive for blended gaso-line, dispersant for pigment production, fixing agent
for printing and dyeing industry, antifogging agent for glass and transparent plastics, etc. Used
as thinner of adhesive, antifreeze, dehydrating agent, etc.
3. Determine barium, calcium, copper, magnesium, nickel, potassium, sodium, strontium, nitrite,
cobalt, etc. as chromatographic standard.
4. Iso propyl alcohol is used as defoamer for water-based fracturing fluid in oil wells. Air forms
explosive mixture, which can cause combustion and explosion in case of open fire and high heat,
and can react strongly with oxidant.
5. In the electronic industry, iso propyl alcohol can be used as cleaning and degreasing agent. In
the oil industry, the extractant of cotton seed oil can also be used for degreasing of animal
derived tissue membrane.
