Common metallic antimony with silvery white appearance and purple-blue metallic luster in cross section. Production method

The production methods of antimony ingots can be divided into two categories: fire method and wet method, and the fire method is still the main method at present. There are also direct smelting method and volatilization roasting (smelting)-reduction smelting and refining method in pyrometallurgy. Because all kinds of direct smelting methods have certain limitations, the volatilization roasting (smelting)-reduction smelting and refining process will still maintain its main position in antimony metallurgy.
At present, China mainly adopts vertical shaft furnace volatilization roasting type blast furnace volatilization smelting to produce antimony trioxide first, then reduces antimony trioxide to crude antimony in reverberatory furnace, and finally produces refined antimony by refining to remove harmful impurities in crude antimony.
