Methionine (English: methionine, also known as methionine) is an essential amino acid in all metazoans. Together with cysteine, methionine is one of two sulfur-containing proteogen amino acids. It is the only sulfur-containing essential amino acid for human, including L-type and D-type, which is closely related to the metabolism of various sulfur-containing compounds (such as protein) in organisms.
