Troxerutin is a flavonol, a type of flavonoid. It is more accurately a hydroxyethylrutoside. It can be isolated from Sophora japonica, the Japanese pagoda tree.Troxerutin is a medication used in the treatment of varicose veins and other disorders which cause blood to pool. It is in a class of medications known as flavonoids and works by repairing damage to capillaries and making them less susceptible to subsequent damage. Troxerutin is derived from the Japanese pagoda tree and has been widely used in Western medicine since the 1960s.
