Rotary drilling tools are mainly divided into the following types:
  1. Double bottom double cut drilling bucket: a standard drilling tool for rotary drilling rig. When applied for below 500KPa total or strongly weathering rock layer, flat bucket teeth would be used as the cutting bits for drilling buckets;  When applied for below 30MPa gravel, cobble and boulder layer and total or strongly weathering sedimentary rock layer, bullet teeth would be used.

2. Clam drilling bucket: high drilling efficiency and easily unloading the slag, especially suitable for piles of smaller diameter. It is widely applied in China for clay layer, plastic rock layer, dense gravel and cobble layer, and slightly hard sedimentary rock layer, etc.

3. Core barrel: with all kinds of carbide cutting bits around the bottom of the shell, the core is broken at the joint crack, and taken out of the hole with the core barrel. When applied for below 90MPa, bullet teeth would be used as the cutting bits for the core barrels; When applied for above 60Mpa, roller bits would be a better choice as the cutting bits for the core barrels.

4. Auger, previously as a standard drilling tool for rotary drilling rig, nowadays is gradually replaced by other drilling tool types in China, because of the low unloading performance, and low drilling performance for hard rock layer. However, augers are still suitable for dry piling construction and casing drilling construction, and gravels, boulders and total or strongly weathering rock layer.
