7. Character: It is white crystals or as a crystalline solid. The pH of a 1:10 aqueous solution is between 7.5 and 10.5. One gram dissolves in about 3 mL of water.

8.Usage:

In food, calcium propionate is added with other ingredients as a preservative and nutritional supplement in food production such as bread, processed meat, other baked goods, dairy products,  It also can assist in lowering the levels of sodium in bread. 

It can preventing the growth of microorganisms in beverages.

In agriculture, it is used as a food supplement and in preventing milk fever in cows. The compound can also be used in poultry feed, animal feed, for instance cattle and dog food. It is also used as a pesticide.
