Ampicillin sodium and sulbactam sodium for injection. This product is suitable for the treatment of infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Typical indications include: upper and lower respiratory tract infections such as sinusitis, otitis media, epiglottis, bacterial pneumonia; urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis; peritonitis, cholecystitis, endometritis, and pelvic cellulitis; Bacterial bacteremia; skin, soft tissue, bone, and joint infections; gonococcal infections. In the perioperative period, this product can also be injected to reduce the incidence of wound infection in patients after abdominal and pelvic surgery. Wound infection can be secondary to peritoneal infection. During termination of pregnancy or cesarean section, sulbactam sodium ampicillin sodium for injection can be used as a preventive medicine to reduce the risk of sepsis after surgery.

This compound preparation is contraindicated in patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin antibiotics.

There are limited data on acute poisoning of sulbactam sodium and ampicillin sodium in humans. It is expected that the clinical manifestations of overdose of this product are mainly the extension of those reported adverse reactions. High concentration of β-lactam antibiotics in cerebrospinal fluid can cause side effects of the central nervous system, such as convulsions. Both sulbactam and ampicillin can be replaced from the blood circulation by hemodialysis. Therefore, if patients with renal impairment have overdose, hemodialysis treatment can increase the excretion of this product from the body.
