What is Clopidogrel Hydrogen?Clopidogrel is an effective antiplatelet agent useful for the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular, cardiac, and peripheral arterial disease.
|
Clopidogrel is an oral, thienopyridine class antiplatelet agent used to inhibit blood clots in coronary artery disease,
peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease. The drug works by irreversibly inhibiting a receptor called
P2Y12, an adenosine diphosphate (ADP) chemoreceptor on platelet cell membranes. Adverse effects include
hemorrhage, severe neutropenia, and thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP).
Clopidogrel is used in the prevention of atherothrombotic events in the following patients:
1. Patients with myocardial infarction (from a few days to less than 35 days), patients with ischemic stroke (from 7 days
to less than 6 months), or patients with confirmed peripheral arterial disease.
2, patients with acute coronary syndrome
Non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (including unstable angina or non-Q-wave myocardial infarction),
including patients with stent placement after percutaneous coronary intervention, in combination with aspirin.
For patients with ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome, combined with aspirin, can be combined for use in
thrombolytic therapy.
