Deoxycholic acid is the world's first local lipid-soluble drug. Deoxycholic acid (DEOXYcholic acid) is a kind of free bile acid in bile, which has strong surface activity, can destroy and dissolve cell membrane, and reduce the small area of subcutaneous fat dissolution. In clinical trials, deoxycholic acid effectively eliminated submental fat and improved overall appearance compared with placebo.
Deoxycholic acid may be used to treat and improve bulging or fullness (double chin) of moderate to severe submental fat in adults.
