Nutmeg belongs to the genus Myristicaceae, an evergreen tree. The dried seeds are steam distilled to obtain nutmeg oil with an oil yield of 6% to 10%. Nutmeg oil is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a relative density of 30.883~0.917 and a refractive index of 1.475~1.488. Has a strong green sweet spicy fragrance.

Properties: Colorless to light yellow liquid with a strong smell of nutmeg.

Dissolution: soluble in ethanol.

Optical rotation: +8°~(+45°)

Main ingredients: myristol ether, eugenol, isoeugenol, linalool, geraniol, limonene, pinene, etc.
