API V11-225 Stellite Valve Balls and Valve Seats
Our ball-and-seat valves are designed and manufactured according to API 11AX Specification for Subsurface Sucker Rod Pumps and Fittings (current edition). Each ball-and-seat combination is vacuum tested to ensure a perfect seal is obtained in all positions of contact.
Available materials and qualities to be used in assemblies of the same or combined materials are as follows:
1. Stainless Steel: API symbol A1
2. Cobalt Alloy: API symbol B2
3. Tungsten Carbide: API symbol C1
4. Nickel Carbide: API symbol C2
5. Titanium Carbide: API symbol C3
6. Ceramic

The following materials are available in ball and seat sets with the ball and seat being the same material or a combination of materials.
Cobalt, chromium and tungsten alloy with high corrosion and abrasion resistant properties. The ball hardness is HRC 58-61 and the seat hardness is HRC 52-56 and is essentially nonmagnetic. DuMore® is recommended for all hard pumping conditions with abrasive and corrosive fluids.
Combination Assemblies: The above materials are offered in various ball-and-seat combination.

General Grade of Tungsten Carbide Ball :
Grade | Density (g/cm3) | Hardness (HRA) | TRS (N/mm2) | Applications |
YG6 | 14.9 | 91 | 2450 | Good Wear resistance, used for hard wood,processing original wood, aluminum section bar,brass rod and cast iron. |
YG8 | 14.7 | 90.5 | 2520 | Suitable for the roughening of cast iron and light alloys and also for the milling of cast iron and low-alloy steel. |
YN6/YN8 | 14.6 | 88.5 | 2250 | This grade with 6-8% nickel binder, it has good wear resistance & corrosion resistance performance, especially used for high pressure environmental, also good for cutting the titanium alloy. |
YG11 | 14.45 | 88.5 | 2750 | With supper toughness and corresponding wear resistance, suitable for carbide inserts of heavy-duty rock drlling tools and DTH-drilling bits for drilling hard and super hard rock fomations. |
YG13 | 14.1 | 87 | 2600 | Qualified for hard rock drilling, steel bars with high compression ratios, pipe drawing, punching tools, core cabinet of powder metallurgy automatic molders etc. |

Tungsten Carbide is the hardest and toughest ball and seat material available. It has the best abrasion and impact resistance of all ball and seat materials and has good corrosion resistance. Nickel Carbide is almost as hard and tough as Tungsten Carbide and has better corrosion resistance. Titanium Carbide is offered as a ball material and has about the same hardness and toughness as Nickel Carbide with the same weight.
Standard Stainless is the most popular ball and seat material due to its good corrosion resistance and economic price. It is made from 440C stainless steel and heat treated and tempered to a hardness of HRC 52-56. It is recommended for mild corrosion and abrasion in moderately deep wells.
