TP1174 powder crosslinking agent Description:
TP 1174 resin is a member of the highly durable glycoluril family of "aminoplast" crosslinking
agents. It is highly monomeric, being mostly tetramethoxymethyl glycoluril.

Advantages of TP 1174 Resin:
TP 1174resin has a number of properties that make it a very attractive crosslinker for powder coatings.
• excellent hardness and flexibility
• excellent solvent resistance
• excellent weathering resistance
• low temperature/fast cure potential
• low usage (low equivalent weight)
• non-yellowing: excellent overbake resistance
• formulative versatility
• imparts tribochargeability
Applications of TP 1174 Resin:
Because of its excellent properties, particularly light stability, weather resistance and good overbake resistance, TP 1174 resin is especially useful in coatings for exterior surfaces. Applications include lawn and garden equipment and furniture, automotive trim, extrusion coatings and other building products. TP 1174 resin is also useful in powder coatings for appliances and in general industrial applications, such as lighting fixtures.
TP 1174 Resin -Crosslinking Chemistry:
TP 1174 resin crosslinks both polyester and acrylic polymers having hydroxyl functionality when heated in the presence of a strong acid catalyst such as sulfonic acid or POWDERLINK MTSI catalyst.

TP 1174 resin can react with and crosslink polymers containing hydroxyl, carboxyl, amide, mercapto or amino function groups in the presence of acid catalysts. Powder coating formulations incorporating TP 1174 resin yield the best performance when hydroxyl functional acrylics and polyesters are used. Some suggested starting
