Guaiacol Uses:
Used for pharmaceuticals, dyes and spices intermediates
Mainly used for the preparation of coffee, vanilla, fumigation and tobacco flavor.
Used for the synthesis of dyes, also used as analytical reagents
In medicine, it can be used for the manufacture of calcium guaiacol sulfonate; in the spice industry, it is used the manufacture of vanillin and artificial musk; Used for test copper, hydrocynic acid and nitrite

Guaiacol is a naturally-occurring organic compound with the formula C6H4(OH)(OCH3). Although it is biosynthesized by a variety of organisms, this yellowish aromatic oil is usually derived from guaiacum or wood creosote. Samples darken upon exposure to air and light. Guaiacol is present in wood smoke, resulting from the pyrolysis of lignin. The compound contributes to the flavor of many substances such as whisky and roasted coffee.

1.Guaiacol is a white or yellowish crystal or a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid with a special aromatic odor.

2.The scientific name is o-hydroxyanisole, glyceryl ether, guaiacol glyceryl ether, o-hydroxylated glyceryl ether.

3.Naturally found in guaiac resin, and hardwood dry distillation oil, it is an important fine chemical intermediate, widely used in the synthesis of medicines, spices and dyes.
