Acyclovir is an antiviral drug. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus in the body. Acyclovir will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection. 
Acyclovir injection is used to treat severe infections caused by herpes viruses, including severe forms of genital herpes, shingles, herpes encephalitis (swelling of the brain), and herpes infections in people with other diseases that weaken the immune system.

Drug interactions:
1.Use with interferon or methotrexate (intrasheath), may cause mental abnormalities, should be used with caution.
2.Combined with nephrotoxic drugs can aggravate nephrotoxicity, especially in patients with renal insufficiency.
3.Combined with Zidovudine can cause nephrotoxicity, presenting as deep lethargy and fatigue.
4.It can inhibit the secretion of organic acid competitively with benzosulfamethoxazole. Combined with benzosulfamethoxazole, the excretion of benzosulfamethoxazole is slowed down, the half-life is prolonged, and the drug accumulates in the body.
