Paeonol [1] refers to an active ingredient extracted from the dried root bark of the ranunculaceae plant peony.
Paeonol is white or slightly yellow shiny needle-like crystals, colorless needle-like crystals (ethanol).
The melting point is 49ºC-51ºC, the smell is special, and the taste is slightly spicy.
Paeonol can be distilled with water vapor and has strong absorption in the ultraviolet region. E (1% 1cm) is 862 at the wavelength of 274nm.
This property can be used for ultraviolet light. The spectrophotometer is used for the measurement.
