Horse Chestnut,Aesculus hippocastanum is a large deciduous tree, also know as Conker tree. 

It is native to Asia and southeast Europe(Greece). The fruit is a green, softly spiky capsule  

containing one (rarely two or three) nut-like seeds called conkers or horse-chestnuts

What is the functions?   

1.Strengthens vein walls, increases elasticity, and decreases permeability (leakage). 

2.Decreases edema -- swelling caused by accumulation of fluid in the veins. 

3.Reduces venous inflammation. 

4.Stimulates circulation. 

5.Treats hemorrhoids (traditional).

     Horse chestnut seeds have been employed in the treatment of rheumatism and neuralgia and also  

in  rectal complaints and for hemorrhoids. In France, an oil extracted from the horse chestnut seeds  

has  been used externally for rheumatism. For painful cramps in the legs at night recommended dosage  

is 20 drops or more of a standardized horse chestnut preparation at night.
