Tylosin Tartrate (Tylosin), also known as Thornon, tylosin, is the United States in 1959 from Streptomyces fusarium (Streptomyces fradiae) in the culture medium obtained a macrolide antibiotics. Tylosin is a white plate crystal, slightly soluble in water, was alkaline. Products are tartrate, phosphate, hydrochloride, sulfate and lactate, soluble in water. The aqueous solution can be stored at 25 ºC, PH 5.5 ~ 7.5 for 3 months, but if the aqueous solution contains iron, copper and other metal ions, the product will fail.

Tylosin has broad spectrum antibacterial activity and was developed as a veterinary pharmaceutical for treatment of bacterial infections in a range of domestic animals . Tylosin acts by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit resulting in the inhibition of protein synthesis in bacteria.
