Series reactor
What is Series reactor?
Series reactor, used for reactive power compensation, is generally used in series with capacitor. It is capacitive under power frequency, so as to prevent parallel resonance and non amplification harmonic current. It can suppress high-order harmonic, limit switching inrush current, improve system power factor, prevent harm caused by harmonic capacitor, and avoid excessive amplification and harmonic of grid harmonic caused by the connection of capacitor device.
What is the function of Series reactor ?
1. Reduce the switching inrush current of the capacitor bank and the amplitude of the inrush current transient process, which is conducive to the arc extinction of the contactor.
2. Form full resonance circuit with capacitor bank to filter out characteristic subharmonics.
3. Reduce the discharge current from the capacitor bank to the fault capacitor bank and protect the power capacitor.
How to choose reactance rate of series reactor ?
1. When the background harmonics connected to the power grid are 3rd order and above, it is generally 12%; two reactance rates of 4.5% to 6% and 12% can also be used.
The third harmonic content is small, and a series reactor of 0.1% to 1% can be selected.
The third harmonic content is relatively large and has already exceeded or approached the national standard limit, generally 12%; 4.5% ~ 6% and 12% can also be used.
2. When the background harmonics at the access point of the compensation device are the third harmonic content is small and the fifth harmonic content is large, select a series reactor of 4.5% to 6%.
The 3rd harmonic content is slightly larger, and the 5th harmonic content is smaller. Select a series reactor of 0.1% to 1%.
