Description

Albuterol Sulfate or Albuterol is also known as Salbutmol. It is a drug that relaxes and dilates the bronchial passageway and improves the passages of air into the lungs. It is also used in treating hypertension or arrhythmia and decreases force and rate of heart contractions by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors of the automatic nervous system. Albuterol sulfate inhalers are particularly prescribed to those people with asthma and with utmost physical allergies. Albuterol may be ordained as a syrup (orally taken) or a tablet. This medication does not cure asthma or any diseases that cause breathing problems, but will only help prevent or calms any attacks.

Application

Used in the treatment of bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, emphysema, patients bronchospasm.

It is usually given by the inhaled route for direct effect on bronchial smooth muscle. This is usually achieved through a metered dose inhaler (MDI), nebulizer or other proprietary delivery devices (e.g. Rotahaler or Autohaler). In these forms of delivery, the maximal effect of salbuamol can take place within five to 20 minutes of dosing, though some relief is immediately seen. It can also be given intravenously.
