Description:
Sulfamethoxazole is a sulfonamide bacteriostatic antibiotic. It is most often used as part of a synergistic combination with trimethoprim in a 5:1 ratio in co-trimoxazole (abbreviated SXT, SMX-TMP and SMZ-TMP,[7] or TMP-SMX and TMP-SMZ), also known under trade names such as Bactrim, Septrin, or Septra. 

Function:
1,As an antimicrobial agent, it is particularly effective against staphylococcus and ESCHERICHIA coli. It is mainly used to treat fowl cholera and so on.
2,Anti-infective drugs, used for urinary tract infection, respiratory tract infection, intestinal infection, Salmonella infection, acute otitis media in children, meningitis prevention.
3,Sulfa drugs, mainly for the treatment of acute and chronic urinary tract infections, but also for meningitis prevention and influenza caused by bacteria such as acute otitis media.
