Calcium chloride is an inorganic salt, which exists as solid or liquid. Solid calcium chloride is a white, crystal substance in the form of flake, granule ,pellet or powder. With different crystallized water contents, it can be dihydrate or anhydrous. Liquid calcium chloride is a colorless, clear solution. As calcium chloride has such properties as quick dissolving, exothermic ability, attracting moisture from the air and surroundings, dissolving at very low temperature, it is widely used in snow & ice melting, dust control, oil & gas drilling, moisture-absorbing, etc.
Calcium Chloride is used mainly as agent for gas drying, as additive to oil-drilling mud, as de-icing agent, and as anti-frosting agent for concrete, as binding agent for de-dusting as well for the preparation of solutions as heating meadia or for the prepration of cooling brines. The product is typically available in form of lye or in solid form or granules.
Calcium Chloride can be used to achieve rapid density increase with minimum volume addition. It also provides inhibition preventing the hydration and migration of swelling clays and can be used in packer fluids. Calcium Chloride is available with anhydrous (CaCl2) and dihydrate (CaCl2.2H2O) in forms of powder and pellets.
