Rivaroxaban is well absorbed from the gut and maximum inhibition of factor Xa occurs four hours after a dose. The effects lasts 8 to 12 hours, but factor Xa activity does not return to normal within 24 hours so once-daily dosing is possible.
Function 
1. For adult patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery to prevent venous thrombosis (VTE).
2. For the treatment of adult venous thrombosis (DVT), reduce the risk of DVT recurrence and pulmonary embolism (PE) after acute DVT.
3. For adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation with one or more risk factors (eg, congestive heart failure, hypertension, age ≥75 years, diabetes, stroke, or transient ischemic attack), Reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism.
