Hank's Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) is used with for variety of cell culture applications, such as washing cells before dissociation, transporting cells or tissue samples, diluting cells for counting, and preparing reagents.

1. The HBSS has been sterilized by using 0.1μm filtration membrane, therefore, it can be used directly.
2. HBSS Buffer has the functions of maintaining osmotic pressure, maintaining pH stability, and providing simple nutrition. It can be used for rinsing tissue blocks, organs or cells in in vitro experiments, transportation of cells or tissues, preparation of reagents for cell culture, and as a diluent for cell counting, etc.
3. The HBSS does not contain calcium magnesium ion.
