ethyl btomide is also known as "ethyl bromide". Chemical formula CH3CH2Br. The molecular weight is 108.97. A compound produced by replacing a hydrogen atom in an e-thane molecule with a bro-mine atom. Colorless flammable liquid with special sweet taste, molecular weight 108.98, specific gravity 1.4604 (20/4°C), boiling point 38.4°C. It is miscible with ethanol, ether, chlo-rine Chemicalbook and organic solvents. It is hardly soluble in water, and the solubility in water is 0.91g% (20ºC). volatile. Flammable. It forms an explosive mixture with air, and the explosion limit is 6.7% to 11.2%. Toxic! It is easy to decompose under light or flame to produce hy-drogen bromide and carbonyl bromide, the latter has a highly toxic effect like phosgene. Used as a raw material and fumigant for organic synthesis.
