Angiotensin acetate, also known as (Val5)-Angiotensin II, is an angiotensin II analog that is an agonist AT1 angiotensin receptors. Angiotensin is an oligopeptide and is a hormone and a powerful dipsogen. It is derived from the precursor molecule angiotensinogen, a serum globulin produced in the liver. It plays an important role in the renin-angiotensin system.

Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor generated by the sequential action of renin and angiotensin-converting enzyme on angiotensinogen. The biological activities of angiotensin II include the regulation of blood pressure, salt and water balance, and vascular tonus.
