Sesamol pretreatment offers radioprotection and prevents radiation induced chromosomal aberrations in human blood lymphocytes.

Used as antioxidant, pharmaceutical intermediate and cosmetic additive, it is an important
aroma component of sesame oil and an important quality stabilizer of sesame oil.
Sesamechol has a very strong antioxidant capacity and is often used in food.
