It is a colourless, fuming liquid with an irritating odour.s transparent colorless, flammable liquid, and exposed to air it smokes. It has a special excitant odor, steam stimulation eye mucous membrane and tear,soluble in ether, chloroform, benzene and carbon disulfide. It is mainly useful for the production of peroxides but is generally useful in other areas such as in the preparation of dyes, perfumes, pharmaceuticals, and resins.
