Advantages of Double eccentric Butterfly Valve

1. The double eccentric butterfly valve shaft is placed offset to one side of the valve centerline. The benefits of this valve versus a single eccentric are that the valve seat and the disk will not contact while traveling. The disc will cam away from the seat while opened, and contact is not established before the final shut off position.

2. The double eccentric type is the difference of the pressure-area on the disc. Since the stem is offset to one side the pressure area will be slightly bigger on one side of the shaft. If the valve installed in the preferred direction the process pressure will help the valve making a better sealing.
