Application 1: It is used for extraction of NBR monomer, pharmaceutical and C4.
Application 2: It can be used as standard material, solvent and stationary liquid for chromatographic analysis.
Application 3: Acetonitrile is a raw material for the preparation of ortho acetate, an intermediate for the production of methyl dichloroethenate and 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoro-1-propenyl-2,2-dimethylcyclopropane carboxylate, as well as a raw material for pyrimidine derivatives, an intermediate of sulfonylurea herbicides. It can be used to manufacture vitamin B1 in the pharmaceutical industry and as an extractant of C4 fraction in the synthetic rubber industry.
Application 4:The main use of acetonitrile is as a solvent. Such as solvent for butadiene extraction, synthetic fiber and some special coatings. In petroleum industry, it is used to remove tar, phenol and other substances from petroleum hydrocarbon. It is used as solvent for extracting fatty acids from vegetable oil in oil industry and reaction medium for recrystallization of steroids in medicine. When polar solvent with high dielectric constant is needed, binary azeotropic mixture of acetonitrile and water is often used: containing acetonitrile 84%, boiling point 76 ºC. Acetonitrile is the intermediate of Medicine (vitamin B1) and perfume, and it is the raw material of making triazine nitrogen fertilizer synergist. It is also used as denaturant for alcohol.
