A2 is American high-toughness wear-resistant tool steel, belonging to wind-hardened steel. The steel carbon has a mass fraction of about 1%, after heat treatment, the hardness can reach 57 ~ 62HRC, and the chromium mass fraction is about 5%. After polishing, the steel surface has a dark gloss, excellent corrosion resistance, and strong ductility. The die cutting edge has good damage resistance. The hardenability of the steel is good, the carbides are evenly distributed, it has a certain impact and good wear resistance. It has good air quenching performance, small dimensional deformation after air quenching, uniform and fine carbides, and good wear resistance.

 Excellent characteristics
After properly adjusting the quenching temperature, A2 has higher hardness and impact toughness when tempered at 200 ºC; hardness is higher when tempered at 400 ~ 500 ºC, and the toughness decreases greatly; impact toughness is very high when tempered at 600 ºC The hardness drops significantly.

Precision dies, trimming dies, cold rollers and other tools with complex shapes should adopt low temperature tempering process, so that the working parts of the mold can obtain high hardness, high toughness, good wear resistance and high strength, which can effectively extend the life of the die Excessive wear, deformation, cracking and other early failure phenomena.

Complex molds with large impact load can adopt low quenching and high return process to obtain higher impact toughness and prevent the mold from brittle fracture

Process parameters

Take W12Cr4V5Co5 as an example, Cr-> 3.75% -5%, V-> 4.5% -5.25%, W-> 11.75% -13%. The ratio of Cr and V should not be low Less than 3%. The content of P and S shall not exceed 0.030%.
