Copper nitrate is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula of Cu (NO3) 2. It is easily deliquescent and soluble in water. The solubility is 45g at 0 ºC. It can be precipitated again by adding concentrated nitric acid. In red heat, it decomposes into oxides of nitrogen and copper oxide, which are decomposed by hydrochloric acid.
The common hydrates are hexahydrate Cu (NO3) 2 · 6H2O and trihydrate Cu (NO3) 2 · 3H2O. The former is blue crystal and the latter is dark blue triangular crystal.
Physical and chemical propertiesIt is easily deliquescent and soluble in water. Its solubility is 45g at 0 ºC. The former is a blue crystal with a relative density of 2.074. When the temperature is 26.4 ºC, it loses trimeric crystal water to form trihydrate, decomposes to form basic salt at 65 ºC, and the latter is a dark blue triangular crystal. It is easily soluble in water and ethanol. Its solution is acidic. The concentrated solution is green and the dilute solution is light blue. It is dissolved in concentrated ammonia to form a complex salt of copper dinitrate tetraammonia, which is easy to deliquescence. Dissolve in its crystal water at 114.5 ºC, lose nitric acid when heated to 170 ºC to form basic copper nitrate, and decompose into copper oxide when heated to 200 ºC. It is oxidizing and easy to explode or burn when mixed with carbon, sulfur and other substances. It is used for copper plating, pesticide making, enamel and dye making. Copper nitrate can be prepared by the reaction of copper oxide or copper block with dilute nitric acid.
The properties of hydrated copper nitrate are very different from anhydrous copper nitrate.
purpose
Uses1. It is used to manufacture pure copper oxide, and is also the raw material for manufacturing other copper salts and copper plating. It is also used in the manufacture of pesticides. Used as mordant, copper catalyst and combustion supporting agent. Enamel industry is used as colorant. It is also used in the paint industry and in the manufacture of inorganic pigments. It is used as enamel colorant, copper plating, copper oxide and pesticide. It is also used as analytical reagent and oxidant.
2. Copper nitrate can be used as a colorant for ceramics to produce high-purity copper oxide, copper carbonate and copper catalysts. It can be used as photosensitive resistance material, phosphor activator, electroplating and chemical reagent.
3. It is used as analytical reagent, oxidant, nitrating agent, catalyst, phosphor activator and photoresist material for picture tube production and copper plating.
4. Copper nitrate can be used as a supply source for electroplating copper and as an additive for chemical polishing of aluminum and alloys. It is also often used in steel etching.
packaging and storage Store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. Keep the container sealed. It is strictly prohibited to store and transport with acids, combustibles, organics, reducing agents, spontaneous combustibles, wet combustibles, etc.
