CWDM/DWDM OADM (optical add-drop multiplexer) is a passive optical device used in WDM networks for adding one/multiple channels into single/dual fibers, or dropping one/multiple channels from single/dual fibers.

It is suitable for SDH/SONET, MAN (metropolitan area network), Optical Cross Connection (OXC).

· Transport protocol and rate transparent: different rates of data could be transmitted simultaneously across the same fiber link without disturbing other transmissions
