Self-aligning roller bearings is also called spherical roller bearings, they have two rows of rollers, a common sphered outer ring raceway and two inner ring raceways inclined at an angle to the bearings axis. The centre point of the sphere in the outer ring raceway is at the bearings axis. Therefore, the bearings are self-aligning and insensitive to misalignment of the shaft relative to the housing, which can be caused, for example, by shaft deflection. Self-aligning roller bearings are designed to accommodate heavy radial loads, as well as heavy axial loads in both directions.

Four common structures of spherical roller bearings can be described in the following: 
CC series self-aligning roller bearings has two window-type steel cages, flangeless inner ring and guide ring centered on the inner ring.

CA series self-aligning roller bearings has one-piece machined brass cage, double-pronged, retaining flanges on the inner ring and guide ring centered on the inner ring.

MB series self-aligning roller bearings has two-piece machined brass cage, double-pronged, retaining flanges on the inner ring and guide ring centered on the inner ring.

In addition, with some exceptions, all LYHY self-aligning roller bearings are manufactured with a cylindrical bore as well as with a tapered bore. Below are some suffixes for your reference.

Suffix K30: a taper of 1:30, in the 240, 241, 248 and 249 series

Suffix K: a taper of 1:12, in the other series

Suffix W33: an annular groove and three lubrication holes in the outer ring

Suffix W20: three lubrication holes in the outer ring

The special profile distributes loads more evenly along the rollers and prevents stress peaks at the roller ends to extend bearings service life.

3. A floating guide ring guides unloaded rollers so that they enter the load zone in the optimal position.
