Introduction

Copper ore refers to the general term for the aggregates of natural copper-containing minerals that can be used. Copper ore is generally an aggregate composed of copper sulfides or oxides and other minerals. It reacts with sulfuric acid to produce blue-green copper sulfate. Copper industrial minerals include: natural copper, chalcopyrite, chalcocite, tetrahedrite, azurite, malachite, etc. There are more than 280 copper-bearing minerals discovered, of which only 16 are the main ones. China's mining is mainly chalcopyrite (a compound of copper, sulfur and iron), followed by chalcocite and bornite.

The main equipment for copper ore beneficiation includes ball mills, flotation machines, dryers and other equipment.

Process Flow of Copper Beneficiation:

(1) Flotation of Disseminated Copper Ore
Generally, a relatively simple process is adopted. After one stage of grinding, the fineness of -200 mesh accounts for about 50% to 70%, 1 rough selection, 2 to 3 selections, and 1 to 2 sweeps. If the copper mineral impregnation particle size is relatively fine, the stage grinding and selection process can be considered. Most of the beneficiation plants that process bornite ore adopt the regrind-selection stage grinding and separation process of coarse concentrate, which is essentially a mixed-priority flotation process. After a stage of rough grinding, roughing, and sweeping, the rough concentrate is re-grinded and then selected to obtain high-grade copper concentrate and sulphur concentrate. The coarse grinding fineness -200 mesh accounts for about 45% to 50%, and the regrind fineness -200 mesh accounts for about 90% to 95%.

(2) Flotation of Dense Copper Ore
Dense copper ore Due to the dense symbiosis of chalcopyrite and pyrite, pyrite is often activated by secondary copper minerals. The content of pyrite is relatively high, which is difficult to suppress and sorting. During the separation process, it is required to obtain both copper concentrate and sulfur concentrate at the same time. Usually the tailings after copper selection are sulfur concentrates. If the gangue content in the ore exceeds 20%~25%, it needs to be sorted again in order to obtain the sulfur concentrate. To process dense copper ore, two-stage grinding or stage grinding is often used, and the grinding fineness is required to be fine. The dosage of medicament is also large, the dosage of xanthate is more than 100g/(t raw ore), and the amount of lime is more than 8~10kg (t raw ore).
