Formic acid is a kind of organic matter, chemical formula is HCOOH, molecular weight 46.03, common name formic acid, is the simplest carboxylic acid.A colorless liquid with a pungent odor.Weak electrolyte, melting point 8.6ºC, boiling point 100.8ºC.Highly acidic, corrosive, skin blistering, flammable.It can be miscible with water, ethanol, ether and glycerol, and most polar organic solvents. High concentrations of formic acid tend to freeze in winter.
