HDMI 2.0 does not define the new data line, connector and DU port in BAI. Therefore, it can guarantee the zhi's perfect downward compatibility with HDMI 1.x. The existing type II data line can be used directly.
The HDMI Forum Inc. organization announced that the HDMI 2.0 standard specification has been finalized and released, significantly enhancing support for 4K ULTRA HD transmission and introducing several video and audio improvements.
HDMI 1.4 already supports 4K, but due to bandwidth constraints, it can only achieve a maximum of 3840×2160 resolution and 30FPS frame rate, while HDMI 2.0 expands the bandwidth to 18Gbps with 3840×2160 resolution and 50FPS and 60FPS frame rate.
It also supports up to 32 channels in audio and up to 1536kHz sampling rate.
Other major improvements:
- Simultaneous transmission of dual video streams to multiple users on the same screen
- Multiple audio streams can be transmitted synchronously to up to four users
- Supports 21:9 ultra widescreen display
- Dynamic synchronization of video and audio streams
- THE CEC extension provides greater control over consumer electronics devices through a single control point
HDMI 2.0 does not define new cables and connectors or interfaces, so it remains perfectly compatible with HDMI 1.x down. Existing type 2 cables can be used directly. As for whether the current device can be upgraded to HDMI 2.0, there is no such trend at present, which requires the manufacturer to update the hardware and firmware.
HDMI Forum Inc. also notes that HDMI 2.0 does not replace HDMI 1.x, but is based on the latter's enhancements, and that any device that supports HDMI 2.0 must first ensure basic SUPPORT for HDMI 1.x.
