17-4PH Precipitation Hardening Stainless Steel Round Bar Stock UNS630 S17400
The 17-4PH alloy is a precipitation, quenched, martensitic stainless steel, and this grade has high strength, hardness (up to 300 0 C / 5000 C) and corrosion resistance. After heat treatment, the mechanical properties of the product are more complete, and it can reach compressive strength of up to 1100-1300 mpa (160-190 ksi). This grade cannot be used above 300 0C (572 0F) or very low temperature. It has good corrosion resistance to the atmosphere and diluted acids or salts. It has the same corrosion resistance as 304 and 430.

Corrosion resistance:
The corrosion resistance of 17-4PH alloy is better than any other standard hardenable stainless steel plate. In most cases, its corrosion resistance is no less than 304.
If there is a risk of stress corrosion cracking, the higher maturation temperature must be higher than 550 ° C (1022 ° F), preferably 590 ° C (1094 ° F).
The optimum tempering temperature in chloride media is 550 ° C-1022 ° F.
The best tempering temperature in H2S media is 590 ° C-1094 ° F.
This alloy is susceptible to erosion or crack corrosion in static seawater.
It has the same corrosion resistance in the petrochemical, food processing and paper industries as the 304L grade.

At higher maturation temperatures of 620 ° C (1148 ° F), higher ductility can be obtained.
Hardness/Temperature tempered for 4 hours after austenitizing at 1040°C (1904°F) for 30 min quenched 100°C/sec (212°F/sec).
