Intend Use
The Hepatitis E virus IgM Test is a lateral flow immunoassay for the simultaneous detection and differentiation of HEV IgM in human serum, plasma, or whole blood. It is intended to be used as a screening test and as an aid in the diagnosis of infection with HEV. Any reactive specimen with the Hepatitis E virus IgM Rapid Test must be confirmed with alternative testing method(s) such as ELISA or PCR.
Storage
All reagents are ready to use as supplied. Store unused test device unopened at 2°C -30°C. If stored at 2°C -8°C, ensure that the test device is brought to room temperature before opening. The test device is stable through the expiration date printed on the sealed pouch. Do not freeze the kit or expose the kit over 30°C.

In acute infection period, anti-HEV IgM is present of high level in the patient's blood. The IgM antibody titer is decreased significantly and even disappeared in convalescence period, instead IgG is present. Since cases of hepatitis E are not clinically distinguishable from other types of acute viral hepatitis, a correct diagnosis can be made by blood tests which detect the specific anti-viral antibodies. Unlike other picornaviruses, however, HEV is not cytolytic and is released by exocytosis. Laboratory isolates of HEV HEV been adapted to growth in primary and continuous monkey kidney cell lines, but clinical isolates are very difficult to grow in cell culture. HEV Milder disease than Hepatitis B; asymptomatic infections are very common, especially in children. Adults, especially pregnant women, may develop more severe disease no chronic form of the disease.
