Also shown to cause immunosuppression which is thought to be followed by an increase in the host immune response. Platinated DNA adducts also enhance poisoning of DNA topoisomerase I by camptothecin (sc-200871). Cisplatin was the first member of a class of anticancer drugs, which now include carboplatin (sc-202093) and oxaliplatin (sc-202270), that form DNA adducts resulting in apoptosis; however, these molecules also bind other biological molecules such as enzymes which might play a role in their mechanism of action.
