Mezlocillin sodium is a high-efficiency benzimidazole penicillin antibiotic, which is difficult to absorb from the gastrointestinal tract. Its sodium salt is often used for parenteral administration. The antibacterial effect of this product is similar to carbenicillin, but its range of action is wider, and its antibacterial spectrum is also wider than that of natural penicillin. Mezlocillin is a penicillin derivative that is administered parenterally and has a bactericidal effect in large doses. The antibacterial spectrum of mezlocillin is basically the same as that of ampicillin and carbenicillin.
