As a raw material for solvents, antifreeze and PETE. Ethylene glycol is toxic to animals. The lethal dose in humans is estimated to be 1.6 g/kg, although consumption of 30 ml in adults may cause death.
Mainly used in the manufacture of resin, plasticizer, synthetic fiber, cosmetics, and as a solvent, preparation of engine antifreeze agent.
