| What's Mitomycin c? Mitomycin is an antitumor drug isolated from the culture medium of actinomycetes. It is effective against a variety of solid tumors and is one of the commonly used periodic non-specific drugs. From the structural point of view, it has three effective groups: benzoquinone, urethane and ethyleneimine. After being activated by reductase in the cell, it acts to depolymerize DNA and at the same time antagonize DNA replication. It also inhibits the synthesis of RNA and protein at high concentrations. It mainly affects the late G1 and early S phases. It also works under acidic and hypoxic conditions. Resistance is mainly caused by the decrease of cell membrane permeability, resulting in a decrease in intracellular concentration; accelerated degradation and the so-called mutation-selection mechanism. |  |
