Clarithromycin is an acid stable macrolide antibiotic indicated for use in the treatment of skin, urinary and respiratory tract infections.

Compared to erythromycin, clarithromycin exhibits the same in vitro activity against conventional pathogens, but is better tolerated by generating less gastrointestinal problems.
