Description
Hydrafinil;Fluorenol is an alcohol derivative of fluorene. In the most significant isomer, fluoren-9-ol or 9-hydroxyfluorene, the hydroxy group is located on the bridging carbon between the two benzene rings. Hydroxyfluorene can be converted to fluorenone by oxidation.

Hydrafinil, also known by its formaI name 9-Fluorenol, is a eugeroic drug. state that it is more effective at keeping the target of the drug awake. In fact, an animal study conducted by Cephalon reported a 39% increase in effectiveness at keeping the mice awake over a 4 hour period. In addition, Hydrafinil is a weaker dopamine reuptake inhibitor .
