PAC LV polyanionic cellulose is used to provide filtration control in most water-based drilling
Fluids.

PAC-LV is short for poly anionic cellulose of low viscosity. It is a low molecular weight, low viscosity type polymer designed specifically for use in solids-laden, water-based drilling fluids, which can effectively reduces the filtration rate of many water-based drilling fluids, without causing significant increases in viscosity or gel strengths.


Applications/Functions:
Helps control filtration rates without significantly increasing fluid viscosity
Encapsulates shale to prevent swelling and disintegration

Advantages:
Effective in fresh water, salt water, and brine-based drilling fluids
Effective in small concentrations for filtration control
Is stable at temperatures up to 300° F (149° C)
Effective in moderate to high pH systems
Does not require a bactericide
