Application:

A raised spindle on the back side of the ratchet lets you wind up the excess webbing to keep it free from tangles and whipping during transit. Designed to allow the webbing to pass through the ratchet and be wound up on the back side of the ratchet. By having the gears on the outside of the strap, the straps release easier when it is time to undo the ratchet strap and the excess webbing can be wound up.
