Buprenorphine is a semi synthetic opioid analgesic derived from thebaine, a component of opium. Buprenorphine is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe pain, peri-operative analgesia, and opioid dependence. Buprenorphine and its metabolites may be present in urine after Buprenorphine use. The length of time following drug use for which a positive result may occur is dependent upon several factors, including the frequency and amount of drug, metabolic rate, excretion rate, drug half-life, the drug user's age, weight, activity and diet.
