The English trade name of raloxifene is Evista®, which is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM). This drug can interfere with certain activities of estrogen, mimicking other effects of estrogen. It is effective in preventing menopausal osteoporosis because it can replace estrogen to increase bone density.

(1) R'aloxifene is used to prevent and treat osteoporosis (condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) in women who have undergone menopause (change of life; end of menstrual periods). 
(2) R'aloxifene prevents and treats osteoporosis by mimicking the effects of estrogento increase the density (thickness) of bone.
(3) R'aloxifene decreases the risk of developing invasive breast cancer by blocking the effects of estrogen on breast tissue.
