For Detecting Canine Parvo Virus in Dogs
Parvovirus is a highly contagious infectious and fetal disease caused by canine parvo-virus(CPV),
which can bring acute gastrointestinal diseases or heart diseases to dogs of any age, breed or sex.
But the disease is usually more severe in young dogs (6weeks- 6months), olds dogs, Rottweilers and
Dobermans. Parvovirus is resistant to extremes of temperature and is unharmed by detergents, alcohol and
common disin-fectants.The virus can be easily spread by the most common fecal-oral transmission
and indirect source of transmission (hands, shoes, clothing or other fomites) . Thecommon clinical signs when
puppies and dogs catch a parvovirus indude vomiting, fever, loss of appetite, depression and bloody diarrhea with a
very foul odor. However, not all cases of bloody diarrhea with or without vomiting are cause by parvovirus
so that many sick puppies are misdiagnosed.
